Summer Travel Baseball for 10, 11 and 12 year olds
The summer travel program is for players who want to develop and hone their skills through a program of serious baseball while competing in tournaments with all-stars from cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts. The competition is keen and skills are quickly developed through a comprehensive program running from the first week of July through the middle of August. WYBSL will select three summer travel teams, one for each for age group - U10, U11 and U12.
Summer U10, U11 and U12 travel baseball teams will compete in the Bay State Baseball Tournament of Champions and Cal Ripken Baseball tournaments. Selection to the travel teams will be based on tryout evaluations and the player’s overall performance during the spring season. Players must meet the age requirements per the April 30th age cut-off date per the Bay State Baseball guideline. Although playing-up up is permitted during the spring recreation seasons, players are required to play within their age group on the tournament teams.
We recognize that a potential obstacle to making a commitment to this competitive baseball format is the conflict with family vacations during the tournament season. Flexibility has been built into the program to allow players to schedule vacations during the season while alternate players take their place on the active roster. To be eligible to participate in Cal Ripken tournament, a player must have participated in a minimum of 67% of WYBSL spring recreation league games.
We are fortunate to have many good young baseball players in Westford who are eager to improve their skills and play against top notch competition. WYBSL is excited to offer this travel baseball program to the families in our community and continue to be committed to giving our players every opportunity to improve their skills while enjoying the game of baseball.
