COMMUNITY FIELDS FUNDRAISING EVENT AT MODELL'S MARCH 6-8
WYBSL has teamed up with the Modell's for a fundraising event for the Community Fields Projects. This is a great opportunity for Westford residents, and their family and friends, to save money at Modell's and help raise money for the 2 new turf fields to be built on Nutting Road and a new turf field for Westford Academy.
March 6-8 everyone will get 10% off their purchases and Modell's will donate another 10% to the Westford Friends of Recreation for the Community Fields Project. The spring sports seasons are right around the corner, get ready for them at Modell's March 6-8 and save money!

Saturday, Feb 27th | Saturday, Mar 6th | Saturday, Mar 13th
The WYBSL and the Westford Academy Softball program are teaming up to offer a 3 week softball clinic at Westford Academy.
Ages 6-12 (8:30am-10:00am)
The first part of this clinic is devoted to the younger softball player. The focus will be on developing the basic skills of the game including hitting, fielding, and throwing the ball correctly.
Ages 13-15 (10:30am–12:00pm)
The second part of this clinic is designed for the older softball player that would like to improve on their basic skills. Pitching, fielding and hitting are the primary skills worked on for this group.
Registration form can be mailed in. Registration fees are $60 for the 3 week session. The clinic will take place at Westford Academy in the Gym. Please bring your bat, glove, indoor shoes and a great attitude. Any questions? Email

Umpires must be 12 years old or older.
Umpire training classes will be held on the following dates:

Softball All-Skills Clinic for ages 9-12
March 1st and 8th, 4:15-5:30pm; limited to 8 players
Coach Gordon's all-skills clinic will help youth players prepare for spring season! The clinic covers hitting, throwing and fielding skills. For new and experienced softball players.
Advanced Hitting Clinic for ages 13-18

Get ready for school tryouts! Coach Gordon's semi-private hitting clinic covers proper hitting mechanics through drills and live BP. Personalized instruction.
Slap-Hitting Clinic for ages 13-18

All Westford recreation sports programs, coaches, and parents are welcome. For those of you that haven't heard about Bob and his youth sports message, here's a small blurb from his web site....
"Bob is one of the foremost youth sports speakers in the country. He advocates fully meeting the needs of children as the top priority in youth sports programs, and provides new approaches for positive change in youth sports. Bob is a former NBA first round draft choice and played four years for the Kansas City Kings, Boston Celtics, and San Diego Clippers. He played collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania for Hall of Fame Coach Chuck Daly. He has devoted several thousand hours researching and lecturing about organized youth sports and its effects on children - and adults. Since 1993, he has conducted over 2500 talks and clinics worldwide. Bob has also been selected as one of the “100 Most Influential Sports Educators” by the Institute for International Sport at the Univ. of Rhode Island.
With the August 2001 publication of his new book, "Just Let The Kids Play", adults throughout the country are reflecting on how they can give youth sports fun back to the children."
In an effort to make WYBSL the best program possible, we will continue to strive to meet Bob's message. We are so commited to this message that our meeting is mandatory for all of our directors, coaches and assistant coaches.
